6. Games & live scoring

Everything about games happens under Manage Games in the ScoreKeeper hub. Schedule a game, open it, and score it live — every goal, penalty and clock tick shows up on fans' phones within a second.

Schedule a game

  1. Manage Games, then press Schedule game in the app bar.
  2. Fill in Schedule a game:
    • Who is playing? — Team 1 and Team 2 (use Swap teams to flip home/away sides).
    • When and where? — Start time (defaults to now) and Location / note, e.g. Rink A · Ref: Casey Morgan. The note is shown on the schedule, the scoring page and the public game page.
    • Game type — Regular season (counts toward standings) or Playoffs (bracket game; does not affect standings). Playoff games are normally created from the bracket instead — see Chapter 7.
  3. Press Schedule game.

The games list

Games are grouped by day — tap a date tab, or use the calendar icon to jump to a day. Within a day, games that haven't been concluded come first; concluded games are listed under Games Ended with a Final (or Final/OT) badge and the score.

Games list
  • Tap a game card to open the scoring page.
  • The copy icon in a card's corner copies that game's scorekeeper link for a volunteer (below).

Note

A game is "live" from the moment you schedule it until you press End game. On the public schedule an unplayed game therefore shows a 0–0 score rather than Final — that's expected.

The live scoring page

Open a game and you'll see, top to bottom:

Live scoring page
  1. App bar — the game time, and End game (or Re-open for a concluded game).
  2. Live game card — the note, both teams with the running score, and one big + Score · Team button per side. Copy scorekeeper link and Edit details are in the corner (admins and scorekeepers only).
  3. Game clock — off by default; press Use a game clock to turn it on.
  4. Events — every goal, penalty and stat recorded so far, newest first. Tap a play to edit it (add a scorer later, fix a name); the trash icon deletes it.
  5. Rosters — one column per team. Each player row shows their number, name and position with a + to record something for that player. The Main / Alt jersey toggle switches which number is displayed.

The game clock

The clock is optional, but fans love it: the public game page shows exactly the same countdown.

Game clock
  • Start / Stop the period clock. Timeout starts the timeout countdown (Resume play ends it early).
  • Nudge the time with −1s / +1s / −15s / +15s, or type an exact Time remaining (m:ss) and press Set.
  • Previous period / Next period and Reset period move through the game; the period label (P1, H1, Q1, G1 …) follows the sport.
  • The Period minutes, Periods and Timeout (sec) fields under the clock are pre-filled for your sport (hockey: 3 × 20 min). Change them and press Save setup.
  • Show tenths of a second for the final seconds; Hide clock for this game if you decide not to use it.

When you record a goal or penalty while the clock is enabled, the period and time remaining are stamped onto the event (e.g. P1 19:52 t.r.) alongside the wall-clock time.

Recording goals, assists, penalties and stats

There are two ways to record a scoring play:

  • Fast, no scorer: press + Score · Team. The dialog opens with no scorer selected — just press Save. Perfect when you're behind and only need the score right. Tap the play later to add who scored.
  • With a scorer: press the + on the player's row. Action buttons appear for that player — for hockey, Goal and Penalty. Flag football also has Safety next to each team's score button, beside Player on the roster, and TD / Safety / Int / Sack on the player row.
Player row actions

Add goal for Team lets you pick or change the Scorer (optional), adjust the Time of day if you're catching up, and — when Count assists is on — press Add assist to credit a teammate.

Add goal dialog

Add penalty (or card / foul, depending on the sport) records the time and a Reason such as Tripping.

Add penalty dialog

Everything you save appears immediately in the events list and on the public game page.

What each sport records

The buttons on player rows and the labels in dialogs follow the tournament's sport:

Assists also depend on the Count assists switch in Tournament Settings.

Fixing mistakes

  • Wrong goal or penalty: tap the play to edit the player, time or points, or press the trash icon to delete it. The score updates automatically.
  • Missing scorer: tap the play and pick the player once you know who it was.
  • Ended the game too early: press Re-open in the app bar and carry on.

Editing game details

Edit details opens Edit game: change the teams (only while no points have been recorded), the Scheduled start, the Location / note, switch between Regular season and Playoffs, and — for concluded games — the Game result for standings (regulation, overtime/shootout, or tie).

Edit game dialog

Delete game at the very bottom of the page removes the game and every play recorded on it — goals, penalties, and stats.

Hand a game to a volunteer

Press Copy scorekeeper link and send it to whoever is keeping score. They get the same page you see — score buttons, clock, events, End game — for 14 days, without an account. They can't edit the schedule or delete the game. See Chapter 4.
